Loving Couples Tie The Knot For Free At The Denver Clerk and Recorder's Office

DENVER (CBS4) - It's Valentine's weekend and love was in the air Friday at the Denver Clerk and Recorder's Office where couples were able to tie the knot -- for free.

Judges volunteered their time for the special weddings. One couple showed up just to get their marriage license, but ended up staying for the free ceremony.

"We got married in November in Canada, so we needed a United States marriage license, so that's why we came today," said the new bride. "And we had no idea that the judges were going to be here."

"The perfect timing, the perfect day to come to the courthouse," the groom said.

The newlyweds were treated to cake, refreshments, and even romantic prizes donated by local businesses.

The judges performed 38 weddings on Friday.
