The Heat Is On!

By Dave Aguilera

DENVER (CBS4) - The heat is on this Father's Day weekend. The high pressure ridge that has been lingering over the south and southwestern U.S. is now will be directing our hot weather pattern this weekend.

With the center of this high moving in over southern Colorado and northern New Mexico by Sunday we will be seeing the hottest temperature this year arrive in Denver on Sunday.

There will be a slight cool down on Monday with highs dipping briefly back into the 80s with a slight chance for a late day thunderstorm. Then it will be right back into the 90s by Tuesday.

With the hot temperatures expected over the next several days the fire danger will slowly be going up. Although it is not critical over the Front Range at this point it will bear watching as we get into the end of the week ahead.
