Close To Record Heat For Holiday Weekend
DENVER (CBS4) -
Hot and overall dry will be the name of the game for most of the Memorial Day weekend. Highs reached 90 degrees in downtown Denver on Friday. Those hot temperatures are going to stick with us through Sunday. We'll even be approaching a few record highs, but most likely will stay below the record threshold.
If you're camping, hiking, biking, or doing whatever to enjoy the Colorado outdoors please be aware of our very high fire danger. Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watchers will be in place through the holiday weekend for almost all of western Colorado and into southern Colorado.
A few thunderstorms are possible in the high country on Sunday, with an isolated storm of two possible in Denver as well.
Monday, a large area of low pressure off to our west will usher in cooler air to our great state. We'll also see the chance for a few thunderstorms for the Front Range and plains.
If you're heading to Florida or the Gulf Coast this weekend make sure you pay close attention to the National Hurricane Center for the latest on a potential developing tropical system.
