Spring Ends On A Very Hot Note

By Justin McHeffey

DENVER (CBS4) - Our heat wave is here to stay! Wednesday was the first in a string of very warm temperatures expected across the area. Most locations along the Front Range will be at or above 90 degrees through the weekend.

High pressure is the dominant feature across the central U.S. This will keep any chance for moisture outside the state and will allow temps to jump several degrees above average. The southwesterly flow continues to shuttle desert air into Colorado with highs well into the 90s. Friday should be around 95 in Denver, Sunday we could get as hot as 98 degrees!

Red Flag Warnings are posted for portions of north central and western Colorado through Wednesday evening. Low humidity, gusty winds, and dry vegetation will combine to produce high fire danger.

Expect lots of sun through the weekend. By Monday we could see a slight pattern change with more clouds and a chance of afternoon storms. Until then, find some shade near a pool!
