Grand Jury Hands Down Indictment Of Denver Area Gang Members

DENVER (AP) - A grand jury has indicted three brothers identified as leaders of the Denver gang known as GKI -- for Gallant Knights Insane -- on organized crime and other charges linked to a decade of violence.

In the indictment released Monday by the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office, brothers Jimmy George Valanzuela, Timmy Dino Valanzuela and Michael Danny Valenzuela were accused along with three alleged accomplices of violating the state's Organized Crime Act, attempting to murder a member of a rival gang, ordering attacks on members of their own gang who were seen as traitors, and other charges.

All six were being held in jail Monday. Attempts to obtain comment from attorneys who have represented some of the accused in the past were not immediately successful.
