Fugitive Caught After Sliding Down Trash Chute From 17th Floor

DENVER (CBS4) – Authorities arrested a fugitive wanted by the U.S. Marshal's Office on Wednesday.

Authorities said the fugitive, whose name hasn't been released, slid from one balcony to another using a sheet tied to the railing after he was contacted by officers at his apartment. He then jumped in the trash chute on the 17th floor and shimmied down to the first floor.

Officers heard noises in the wall and figured the man was in the trash chute.

The U.S. Marshal's Office says the man was wanted on an escape warrant from Texas where he was being held on fraud charges.
