Former Aurora City Councilman Joins GOP Senate Race To Challenge Bennet

DENVER (AP) - Republican Ryan Frazier is running for his party's nomination in Colorado to challenge Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet next year.

The former Aurora city councilman said that he planned to announce his candidacy on Thursday.

Frazier had been working as a political commentator for the Denver station.

Frazier last ran for office in 2010, when he unsuccessfully challenged Democratic Rep. Ed Perlmutter in the 7th Congressional District.

Frazier will face four other Republicans already in the race. Those include state Sen. Tim Neville of Littleton and El Paso County Commissioner Darryl Glenn.
