12 Years In Prison For DUI Driver Who Killed 2 People

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado judge has sentenced a 58-year-old Littleton man to 12 years in prison for hitting and killing two people on a motorcycle.

Arapahoe District Judge Ben Leutwyler sentenced Matthew S. Smith on Monday after he was convicted in May of two counts of vehicular homicide DUI, two counts of vehicular homicide reckless driving, two counts of reckless manslaughter and one count of failure to yield right of way.

Prosecutors say Smith was driving drunk and was high on cocaine when he turned in front of motorcycle on Sept. 5, 2016.

The two people on the motorcycle were killed.
