Deputy Director Of Denver Crime Lab Suspended For Months

DENVER (CBS4)- CBS4 has learned that the deputy director of Denver's Crime Lab has been suspended with pay since June. Authorities are providing no information about what led to the lengthy paid leave.

According to multiple sources, Walter Greene Jr. was placed on paid "investigatory leave" June 22. Greene is one of the top three administrators of the crime lab and his official title is Deputy Director of Criminalistics.

During the nearly three months of investigatory leave, Greene has been paid his full salary of $124,891.

CBS4 has been unable to contact Greene for comment.

Asked the reason for Greene's suspension, Mary Dulacki with Denver's Department of Safety responded, "He is on investigatory leave—that is the reason for the leave."

Greggory S. LaBerge, Director of the Crime Lab, also declined to discuss Greene's leave saying, "We'll let the process run its course."

Greene was formerly a sergeant with the Denver Police Department.
