Dead Kayaker ID'd As 63-Year-Old Crestone Man

CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) — The man who died after apparently falling out of his inflatable kayak in the Arkansas River has been identified as a 63-year-old man from Crestone.

The body of Tom Osbourne McMurray was recovered Monday from the river near the Wellsvile Bridge in western Fremont County. Investigators believe he launched his kayak in the Salida area, about five miles upstream, but no one saw what happened to him after that. He was wearing a helmet, a life jacket and a wet suit.

The Canon City Daily Record reports an autopsy is planned Wednesday in Colorado Springs.
