Consul General Wants More Mexicans Taking Advantage Of DACA Program

DENVER (CBS4) - Mexico's consul general in Denver held a news conference Monday on immigration.

Carlos Bello talked about how the Mexican community in Denver is impacted by Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA.

DACA has been in place for three years. It allows certain undocumented immigrants who arrived in the U.S. before their sixth birthday to receive a two-year work permit exempting them from deportation during that time.

"These measures have positive input in the lives in more than one million people and several hundred thousand are from Mexican decent," Bellow said.

Bello hopes more Mexicans living in Colorado will take advantage of the DACA program.
