Colorado Weather: Long stretch of unusually cold weather and occasional snow

Unusually cold week for Colorado

Cold air directly from Canada will dominate in Colorado for at least the next seven days. As a result, Monday is a First Alert Weather Day as the prolonged period of cold gets underway. High temperatures along the Front Range will be stuck in the 30s which is about 20 degrees below normal for the middle of November.

There is also a chance for light snow or flurries in the Denver metro area Monday night but no accumulation is expected.

Regardless of snow, there will be a lot of cloud cover along the urban corridor Monday night which means Tuesday morning may not be as cold as it was Monday morning when Denver officially dropped to 10 degrees which is the coldest temperature recorded so far this season.

Those same clouds will also slow how fast temperatures can warm on Tuesday and therefore highs will likely be stuck in the 30s again despite sunshine in the afternoon.

Then addition will shift to Thursday when another arctic cold front arrive. The temperature in Denver may stay below freezing from Wednesday night through late morning on Saturday. There is also at least a 50% chance for snow along the Front Range starting Thursday afternoon. Accumulation is expected to be minor around Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins (1-2 inches) but the timing could be terrible with most of the snow falling during the Thursday evening commute. Roads could be slick and visibility could be limited.

Friday should be mostly dry other than lingering flurries in the morning. But it will be mostly cloudy and COLD with high temperatures only in the 20s in the Denver areas. That's unusual for so early in the cold weather season.
