Hundreds Shelter In Place In Shooting That Kills 2, Wounds 2 More

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A tense situation shut down part of northeast Colorado Springs overnight.

Two people are dead and two others wounded in a shooting.

The shooter also fired at responding police, firefighters, and medical personnel.

Calls came in at about 9:30 p.m. Monday for a shooting in the area around the 3800 block of Village Road South. That's near North Academy Boulevard and North Carefree Circle.

At about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, police got into the town homes there and found a man and a woman dead, one of whom is presumed to be the gunman. Two others were hit in the initial shooting, one with wounds in the mid section and another to the leg.

Those wounds are not considered life-threatening.

Hundreds of people living in the area were asked to remain indoors and shelter in place during the incident.

Police say a homicide investigation is ongoing.
