Colorado Senate Debates Homebuilder Liability Bills

DENVER (AP) — Two bills to make it harder to sue Colorado homebuilders are up for debate Friday in the state Legislature.

The state Senate is scheduled to take votes on two bills related to homebuilder product liability. Supporters say the bills would boost construction and address Colorado's shortage of affordable housing.

The bills are expected to succeed in the Republican Senate.

But prospects are dimmer in the Democratic House, where leaders generally oppose the measures. Opponents say they are too favorable to builders and developers and would strip consumer protections.
