Colorado law enforcement seeking information on alleged assault of Pikes Peak Cog Railway employee

Police in southern Colorado are seeking witnesses to an alleged assault against a train employee in the parking lot of the Pikes Peak Cog Railway in Manitou Springs.

The suspect, Randy Blevins, has bonded out of the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center. He faces charges of second-degree assault, and now Manitou Springs investigators are trying to learn more about what led to the employee ending up in the hospital in critical condition.

The alleged assault occurred on Saturday and Blevins was arrested on Sunday. He posted a $10,000 bond later that day.

Police have not yet identified the alleged victim, but say the Manitou Springs Fire Department responded to the parking lot of the train station to treat them. They remain in the hospital as of Monday afternoon.

Initially, investigators were seeking Blevins and a woman he was seen with and both were being treated as persons of interest in the case. Her identity and status in the investigation weren't clear on Monday evening.

Manitou Springs police are asking anyone with video footage, knowledge, or who witnessed the incident to contact El Paso County Dispatch at 719-390-5555.

Blevins is due in court on Friday for an advisement hearing.

The Pikes Peak Cog Railway is a 9-mile, 3-hour trip to the top of Pikes Peak and back and one of several historic, scenic railways in Colorado.
