Canon City Police Shoot Robbery Suspect After Officer Is Stabbed

CANON CITY, Colo. (CBS4) - Canon City police are investigating an officer-involved shooting after a robbery suspect allegedly stabbed an officer in the arm.

Officers responded to the report of a robbery at a police supply store Saturday afternoon in the 2800 block of East Main Street. According to a police statement, the when an officer confronted the suspect he stabbed the officer in the arm.

The officer then shot the suspect in the torso.

Both the officer and suspect were transported to area hospitals. There conditions and names haven't been released.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation has been called to assist in the investigation.
