12-Year-Old Accidentally Shot Self While Hunting
WELD COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A 12-year-old boy is recovering from an accidental gunshot wound that happened over the weekend.
The Weld County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a shooting in the 29000 block of WCR 20 Sunday evening at 6:15 p.m. A 12-year-old male who had been shot in the side by a .22 caliber bullet was found.
The boy was taken to the Children's Hospital in Aurora and is in stable condition.
Investigators determined the shooting was a result of self-inflicted, accidental weapon discharge that occurred while the boy was hunting.
