Woman Struck And Killed By Vehicle In Avalon Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 45-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday night in the Avalon Park neighborhood on the South Side, according to Chicago Police.

She was crossing the street in the 8100 block of South Stony Island Avenue about 8:15 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle traveling south, police said.

The woman was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she later died, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office did not immediately confirm the death.

Police said the driver remained at the scene after the crash, but further details were not immediately available.
