Woman critically hurt after crashing into apartment building on Chicago's West Side

A woman was hospitalized after crashing into an apartment building early Sunday morning in the Austin neighborhood.

It happened just after 1 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Austin Avenue.

Chicago police said officers responded to a call of a traffic accident and found a blue sedan crashed into an apartment building.

The sedan driver, a 36-year-old woman, suffered injuries from the crash.

Fire crews treated her at the scene and took her to Loyola Hospital in critical condition.

No other injuries were reported.

Citations are pending, and police are investigating.
