Warming trend ahead in Chicago

The Chicago area is slowly thawing out for the rest of the week. The temperatures will be milder by the weekend and next week. 

Wednesday morning wind chills were harsh once again with the lowest readings of -10 to -20 degrees.

Following a few light flurries in some areas from Chicago into northwest Indiana during the evening hours, a band of lake effect snow continues in La Porte County overnight into Thursday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for La Porte County through 6 p.m. Thursday, where snow totals may reach 2-4 inches.

Highs shift into the 20s on Thursday and Friday. 

Sunshine returns Friday into the weekend along with much warmer temperatures. By next week, high temperatures rise to the mid-40s in Chicago for the first time in more than three weeks.
