Watch: "Chi-Raq" Movie Trailer

(CBS) -- The first trailer for Spike Lee's "Chi-Raq" was released Tuesday, offering the first glimpse of the movie centering around violence in Chicago.

The film stars Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, John Cusack, Nick Cannon, Wesley Snipes and others. The movie is set in Chicago and is an adaptation of the Greek play Lysistrata.

The film, which was shot in Chicago over the summer, garnered controversy for its title, leading to some aldermen to call for blocking a state tax credit for the film production.

"Chi-Raq" is will be in theaters starting December 4.
