Two Kids Safe After Hostage Situation On Northwest Side

UPDATE: 2:41 p.m.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two children were safely removed from a home on the Northwest Side on Tuesday, after a man armed with a gun kicked his wife out of their home, and barricaded himself inside with the kids.

Police said officers received a call about a man with a gun in the 3000 block of North Harlem Avenue around 6:20 a.m. When officers arrived, they learned a man armed with a gun had kicked his wife out of their home, and locked himself inside with their two children, ages 4 and 9.

A SWAT team responded to the home, and after speaking with the man several times, he came out with the children. Police said everyone was safe, and a handgun was recovered at the scene.

Ross Bulski, 32, has been charged with misdemeanor aggravated assault/use deadly weapon and one count of misdemeanor domestic battery-physical contact.
