Rain/snow chances coming Wednesday in Chicago

Mainly dry in Chicago Wednesday with rain and snow to the south

CHICAGO (CBS) — A brief isolated shower is in the forecast between 8 p.m. and midnight Tuesday night, but otherwise, cloudy skies are expected as temperatures drop below freezing in the upper 20s to near 30 degrees.

As the weather pattern takes a more active turn for the middle of the country Wednesday, rain and snow may impact the region—with the higher likelihood of rain/snow staying south of the city. For anyone planning on heading south of the city for the holiday, travel could become tricky.

There is improvement with the wintry precipitation on Thanksgiving, but temperatures will plummet. Highs starting on Friday will hover in the 20s with overnight lows in the teens.

This cold snap will last through the beginning days of next week.
