Crash-and-grab thieves steal ATM in Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) – Thieves used two vehicles to crash into a currency exchange and steal an ATM on the city's Near West Side.

It happened Thursday morning at a currency exchange near Roosevelt Road and Jefferson Street around 6:30 a.m.

The burglars drove a Jeep Cherokee into the front window, knocking over an ATM. From there, they carried it to a Dodge Durango and drove away.

A video showed the burglars dragging the ATM away.

It's unclear how many people were involved in the burglary.

Investigators were still looking for the burglars Thursday night.

Earlier this week, burglars rammed a Jeep Cherokee into a gyro shop and stole an ATM in Bronzeville. Shortly before 3:30 a.m., two burglars drove into the front of Gyros 47 near 47th and Calumet then went inside and took the ATM.
