Teen charged in 2 January Chicago Southwest Side armed carjackings

A 15-year-old boy was charged with carjacking two men at gunpoint on the city's Southwest Side earlier this year.

The teen was arrested on Wednesday in the 3300 block of West 79th Street. He was charged with two felony counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm.  

Police said he participated in the Jan. 20 armed carjackings of a 50-year-old man just before 5 p.m. in the 8500 block of South Kenton Avenue and a 40-year-old man over an hour later in the 4400 block of West 77th Place.

He was placed into custody and charged accordingly, police said.

No further information was immediately available.
