Taste Of Chicago Opens For 2016

CHICAGO (CBS) -- It's time to bring your appetite downtown. The 36th annual Taste of Chicago kicked off at 11 a.m. at Grant Park.

CBS 2's Mike Puccinelli spoke to Taste of Chicago manager Mary Slowik and Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events commissioner Michelle Boone. You can find out more about this year's festival in the video above.

There are 69 food vendors at this year's Taste. Among many new restaurants is Pastoral Artisan Cheese, Bread & Wine.

Food trucks also will be stopping at the Taste, including Jack's Fork In The Road, which will be making gourmet hand-crafted sandwiches.

The Taste of Chicago offers more than just samples from nearly 70 of the city's restaurants. There's also a little something for the gourmet. Chef Abe Conlon is one of the Celebrity Chefs du Jour this year.
