Boy, 14, shot near CTA Washington/Wabash stop in Chicago's Loop

A 14-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after being shot near a CTA stop in the Loop on Monday evening.

The shooting happened shortly after 8:31 p.m. near the Washington and Wabash stop in the 0-100 block of East Washington Street, prompting a huge police presence.

Chicago police said the boy was standing outside when an unknown person pulled out a gun and shot at him. 

The shooting itself did not happen on CTA property.

The boy was struck in his left foot by the gunfire and was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital in fair condition.

Area 3 detectives are investigating.
