Rewind Chicago: A View Of Michigan Avenue Then And Now

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The year is 1925, the view is of North Michigan Avenue from around Erie to Walton Street.

The Michigan Avenue Bridge was only about five years old.
There are a few familiar landmarks, the Chicago Water Tower at the upper left.
The Drake Hotel, which was just in its fifth year in business, is at the upper right.
The Drake became the destination point for the elite of Chicago during the Roaring 20s
The street wasn't named the Magnificent Mile yet.
That happened in the 1940s.
It was coined by developer Arthur Rubloff who was a main force behind turning the street into a world-class shopping destination.
