Dry weather continues on Thursday, with big temperature ranges across Chicago and suburbs

The forecast is drying out late Wednesday following widespread rain through the morning across the Chicago area. Dry weather returns Thursday, but prepare for a big range in temperatures, depending where you are.

A lake-enhanced cold front surges inland Thursday afternoon. While the far southwestern suburbs hover around 80 degrees, Chicago's temperatures fall into the 50s by late afternoon with even cooler readings in the 40s along the immediate lakeshore.

Scattered thunderstorms return Friday, then dry weather is expected all weekend. Chilly lake breezes will keep highs in the 40s/50s Saturday, then warmer weather returns Sunday.
