Police Seek Suspect In Elgin Armed Robbery

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police in northwest suburban Elgin are asking for the public's help in the search for the suspect in an armed robbery Sunday afternoon.

Police were called about the robbery at 4:43 p.m. at a business in the 300 block of South McLean Boulevard, according to a statement from Elgin police. Employees and witnesses told investigators the suspect had brandished a silver handgun and stolen money from the cash register.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with long black hair and a beard or goatee, police said.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call police at (847) 695-4195. Anonymous tips can also be texted to 847411 with "ELGINPD" at the beginning of the message.
