Police: Man Tried To Lure Girl Into Van In Clearing

(STMW) -- Police are searching for a man who tried to lure a girl into his van last month in the Clearing neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The man, driving a white van, pulled up next to the girl about 2:50 p.m. Sept. 28 in the 6100 block of South Melvina and motioned with his hands for her to come over to the van, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The man drove away before the girl's parent arrived to pick her up from school, police said.

He is described as a white man, between 43 and 45 years old, with black hair, a full beard and a light complexion, police said. The vehicle is described as a white van with an unknown license plate.

Anyone with information on the attempted luring is asked to contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
