Police: Man Killed In Tri-State Crash

(CBS) -- A man was killed early Friday in a two-vehicle crash on the Tri-State Tollway.

The two-vehicle crash happened at 1:46 a.m. on I-294 southbound at milepost 46.5, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.

Kevin J. Horn, 27, of Elgin, was killed after the car he was driving struck the rear side passenger corner of a Hino tow truck as it slowed for a disabled vehicle, police said.

Horn was taken to Glenbrook Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No one in the tow truck was injured.

Two left lanes and the left shoulder were still closed as of 5:17 a.m., police said.

The official cause of the crash is under investigation.
