Person stabbed to death during fight inside residence on Chicago's Southwest Side

Suspect charged in deadly stabbing inside Brighton Park residence

CHICAGO (CBS) – One man was charged in the deadly stabbing of another man at a residence in the Brighton Park neighborhood Friday afternoon.

Hugo Reza-Valdespino, 43, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Chicago police said the victim, a 48-year-old man, was inside his residence, in the 4200 block of South California Avenue around 4:41 p.m., when he got into a fight with another known man who then attacked him with a knife.

The victim was stabbed in the right groin area and was found unresponsive on the kitchen floor and was pronounced dead on the scene  

Reza-Valdespino was taken into custody 40 minutes later, police said. 

He is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing on Sunday.
