Person Hit By Metra Train In Palatine

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Metra Union Pacific-Northwest train struck a pedestrian Saturday afternoon in northwest suburban Palatine.

Outbound train No. 709, which was expected to arrive in Crystal Lake at 3:05 p.m., struck a pedestrian near Palatine Road in Palatine about 2:30 p.m., according to Metra spokesman Tom Miller. Trains in both directions were halted near the scene as of 3:20 p.m.

Palatine police could not immediately provide further details about the incident.
