Bus Collision In Brookfield Zoo Parking Lot Injures 10 Students

(CBS) -- Ten students suffered minor injuries when two school buses collided on an outing Tuesday to the Brookfield Zoo.

The low-speed collision occurred at about 1:15 p.m. in the main parking lot of the zoo, near 31st Street and 1st Avenue, in Brookfield.

Paramedics transported the students to several area hospitals, a Brookfield Fire Department spokesman said. All were expected to be released after treatment.

The zoo's main parking lot was closed until 3:30 p.m. to allow students to be transported and an investigation to be conducted. Zoo spokesperson Nina Martines said the zoo's South Gate parking lot remained open and that operations in the zoo were unaffected by the accident.

Both buses were from the same school, which asked not to be identified.
