Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Metra Train In Mount Prospect

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A pedestrian died Thursday afternoon after being struck by a Union Pacific/Northwest line train in northwest suburban Mount Prospect.

Emergency responders were called about 4:53 p.m. after outbound train No. 627 struck the pedestrian on the east end of the Mount Prospect train station at 13 E. Northwest Highway, according to the Mount Prospect Fire Department.

Officials confirmed the pedestrian died, but have not released any identifying information.

About 6:50 p.m., Metra said both inbound and outbound trains were cleared to proceed through the area, but delays of up to two hours were expected.
