One Hurt After Metra Train Hits SUV In Arlington Heights

CHICAGO (CBS) -- One person was injured when a Metra Union Pacific-Northwest line train hit an SUV late Monday morning in northwest suburban Arlington Heights.

Police said the accident happened around 11:30 a.m. at the Metra crossing at Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway. Firefigters pulled one person from the SUV, and the victim was taken to Northwest Community Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Union Pacific-Northwest line trains were halted in both directions for about two hours after the crash, but were running again by early afternoon.

 

The cause of the crash is under investigation, police said.
