One Killed When Metra Train Hits SUV In Oak Lawn

CHICAGO (CBS) -- One person was killed Monday morning, when a Metra train hit an SUV in southwest suburban Oak Lawn, halting operations on the Southwest Service line for about two hours.

It happened around 7:40 a.m. near the Central Avenue station in Oak Lawn.

Metra officials confirmed one person was killed in the crash, but it was not immediately clear if that person was the driver or a passenger in the SUV.

Trans were halted in both directions after the crash, but Southwest Service trains were running again by 9:35 a.m.
