Metra Offering Free Rides To Kids On Thursday For 'Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day'

CHICAGO (AP) — Metra, the Chicago area's commuter rail agency, is making it cheaper for parents to take part in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.

Metra says in a news release it will allow up to three youths 18 or younger to ride its trains for free on Thursday when they board with a fare-paying parent.

Metra says it is important to do what it can to expose children to what their parents do for a living and remind children what they learn in school is crucial to successful careers.

Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is in its 26th year. In its announcement, Metra asserted this year's theme of "Workforce Development for All" focuses on "empowering children to effect positive change within their communities."
