Man Stabbed During Fight Along Lakefront Trail

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was stabbed during a fight on the lakefront on the North Side early Saturday.

Two men, ages 45 and 48, were sitting on a bench along the Lakefront Trail in the 3600 block of North Recreation Drive about 12:15 a.m. when two other people walked up and started arguing with them, according to police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

The confrontation escalated to a physical fight, and as the two men who had been on the bench tried to leave, the 45-year-old man was stabbed in the lower back, Zala said.

The man's stab wound was minor, and he was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, police said.

Police did not have a description of the offenders, who ran away after the attack.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
