Man Shot To Death In South Austin Neighborhood

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot to death Friday night in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The 20-year-old man was standing in a gangway in the 5200 block of West Congress Parkway about 11:15 p.m. when someone shot him in the head, according to police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:05 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

He was identified as Trevolus Pickett of the 8300 block of South Dorchester Avenue, the medical examiner's office said.

No one is in custody early Saturday as Area North detectives investigate.
