Man Shot To Death In Chicago Lawn

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot to death inside a food mart in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the West Side early Tuesday morning.

The man was shot in the chest about 6:15 a.m. in the 2400 block of West 63rd Street, police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said. A source said the shooting happened inside a food mart.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 7:05 a.m., according to a representative for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The man has not yet been identified, though authorities said he appears to be in his 50s or 60s.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
