Woman Killed By Freight Train Near Maywood

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A west suburban woman was fatally struck by a freight train Thursday night near west suburban Maywood, causing Metra delays overnight on the Union Pacific/West Line.

Trains traveling in both directions on the UPW Line were stopped near Maywood because of a pedestrian incident involving a freight train, according to a Metra alert posted shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the woman as 50-year-old Marlane Montino of the 1200 block of Hirsch in Melrose Park. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:31 p.m.
