Cubs Introduce New Mascot, 'Clark'

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Chicago Cubs have introduced the first official team mascot in modern team history.

The bear cub "Clark" made his official debut Monday night with a visit to the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center's pediatric developmental center.

The Cubs say that Clark will not be found performing on the dugout in between innings, but instead will greet fans as they enter Wrigley Field.

According to the Cubs, the mascot comes as a response to surveys of fans who say they want more family-friendly entertainment at Wrigley Field.

In 1916, the Cubs had a live-bear named Joa as a mascot. He retired to the Lincoln Park Zoo.
