95-year-old man killed, 3 others hurt in Deer Park, Illinois, crash, sheriffs say
One person is dead, and three others were hurt in a crash on Tuesday afternoon in Deer Park, Illinois.
The crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. at Lake Cook Road and Quentin Road.
Lake County sheriff's said that deputies initially responded to the scene of a disabled vehicle. Upon arrival, they found a man in the roadway, who was pronounced dead. Two vehicles with heavy damage were also found.
CBS Skywatch was over the scene where first responders were investigating the two vehicles, a black sedan and a white SUV, involved in the crash.
Initial reports indicated that the victim, a 95-year-old man of Palatine, was driving a 2026 Honda Accord that broke down and became disabled in the westbound lane of Lake Cook Road. The car in the center lane.
According to witnesses, the man got out to inspect underneath the car when a 2024 Honda HR-V, driven by a 30-year-old woman of Cary, Illinois, hit the rear of the Accord. The man died from his injuries.
A passenger in the Accord, a 77-year-old Barrington woman, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the HR-V, along with her passenger, a 30-year-old Arlington Heights woman, was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, sheriff's said.
Lake County sheriff's said that a school bus was also waiting to make a turn onto Quentin Road when it was sideswiped during the crash. The driver, who was the only occupant on board the bus, was ot hurt.
An autopsy is being scheduled for the 95-year-old victim.
Investigation into the crash remains ongoing by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
