Hot, hot, hot this weekend

CHICAGO (CBS) — Clear skies and comfortable conditions Friday night, with lows in the low 60s in Chicago and 50s in the suburbs.

A high-pressure system over the Great Lakes will bring quiet conditions through Saturday, with highs in the low 80s but staying in the 70s lakeside.

On Sunday, a ridge of high pressure will move overhead, leading to hot and humid conditions. Highs will reach the low to mid-90s on Sunday.

Record heat is likely Monday, with highs in the mid to upper 90s. Overnight lows will only cool to the 70s through Tuesday night.

Because of this stretch of unseasonable hot weather, the area is at an extreme risk for heat-related impacts early next week.

The hot pattern will continue through late next week, with highs around 90 degrees. Isolated thunderstorm chances return by the middle of next week.
