Concrete Falls From Eisenhower Overpass, Strikes Vehicle

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Loose concrete fell off an overpass and struck a vehicle westbound on the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) Tuesday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

Rescue crews responded to the crash about 2:20 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-290 near the Kostner Avenue overpass, according to Illinois State Police.

Loose concrete apparently fell from the overpass and struck one vehicle, ISP said.

The male driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was not injured, ISP said.

All lanes of the expressway were open as of 3:30 p.m., ISP said.
