At least four people are dead and 23 others were hurt in weekend shootings across the city during the weekend as of Sunday, according to Chicago police. 

The ages of the victims range from 16 to 59.

Shootings from Friday

In the first shooting of the weekend, police said around 7:46 p.m., a 40-year-old man self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound in the thigh and the abdomen in the 5500 block of South State Street in Washington Park. He was listed in good condition. 

No further information, including what led up to the shooting, was released.

Later in the evening, four men were wounded in a mass shooting around 9:30 p.m. in the 6600 block of South Halsted Street.

The men, ages 35 to 49, suffered gunshot wounds to their legs and were taken to the hospital. One man was in critical condition, and the other three were in good condition.

Shootings from Saturday

  • At 2:45 a.m. in the 1700 block of North Kimball Avenue, officers responded to a call of a person shot. The victim, a 26-year-old woman, was found unresponsive on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to Mt Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
  • At 3:58 a.m. in the 4200 block of West Adams Street, officers responded to a call of a person shot. The victim, an 18-year-old man, was outside when multiple unknown men approached on foot, pulled out a firearm, and fired multiple shots before fleeing. The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the right knee and left heel and was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition. Weapons were recovered on scene, and Area Four Detectives are speaking with four people of interest, and charges are pending.
  • At 5:38 a.m. in the 2900 block of South Dearborn Street, a 31-year-old man was standing near the sidewalk when he was approached by an unknown vehicle. Someone got out, pulled out a gun, and fired shots at the victim before fleeing northbound on Dearborn Street. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital, initially listed in fair condition. Police said his condition was stabilized.
  • At 5:30 a.m. in the 6300 block of South Vernon Avenue, two teen boys, 16 and 19, were walking near the sidewalk were approached by three males who pulled out guns and fired shots at the victims. The victims each suffered a gunshot wound in the leg and were self-transported to the University of Chicago, initially listed in good condition.
  • At 7:15 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was standing on the sidewalk in the 11300 block of South Carpenter Street when someone fired multiple gunshots his way from a blue sedan. The victim was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The shooter's car was last seen headed north on Carpenter Street.
  • At 11:07 p.m., two men — ages 21 and 38 — were standing outside in the 900 block of West 85th Street, at Sangamon Street, when two men in a black sport-utility vehicle began quarreling with them and then took out guns and shot them both. The 21-year-old man was shot in the right thigh and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition, while the 38-year-old man was shot multiple times throughout his body and was listed in critical condition at the same hospital.

Shootings from Sunday

  • At 12:05 a.m., a 25-year-old man was in a car in the 4500 block of West Wilcox Street when four men came up. A man in the group displayed a gun and fired shots at the victim. The victim was shot in the left thigh and right arm and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition.
  • At 12:59 a.m., a 28-year-old woman was in a home in the 1600 block of West 87th Street near the front window with friends when she heard a loud noise and felt pain. She suffered a graze wound to the head and a gunshot wound to the left buttock and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in fair condition.
  • At 3:10 a.m., a 32-year-old man got into a quarrel with another man at a gathering in the 4800 block of West Haddon Avenue. The second man took out a gun and shot the first man, and was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in serious condition. The shooter fled in a dark-colored vehicle.
  • At 3:32 a.m., a 39-year-old man was found with a gunshot to the right leg in the 5700 block of West Ohio Street. The victim was uncooperative with the police about what happened. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition.
  • At 4:53 a.m., a 59-year-old man heard shots and felt pain while outside in the 6200 block of South Laflin Street, and it turned out he had been shot. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
  • At 5:10 a.m., a 28-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 3600 block of South Lowe Avenue when he was struck by gunfire by someone standing on the street. The victim was shot twice in the right leg and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. The shooter fled in an unknown direction.
  • At 6:15 p.m. in the 2900 block of East 88th Street, police officers responded to a call of a person shot. The victim, a 38-year-old man, was walking outside when he was approached by five unknown males, one of whom pulled out a gun and shot in the victim's direction. He was hit in the left hand and left elbow and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.
  • At 8:14 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Marshfield Avenue, a 59-year-old man was in an argument with multiple unidentified males when one of them pulled out a gun and shot at the victim before fleeing. The victim was hit in the back and was treated by fire crews before being taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition.
  • At 11:51 p.m., a shootout left four men wounded in the 5300 block of West North Avenue, at Lorel Avenue. Officers heard gunfire while on patrol and found two men on the ground, both of them having suffered gunshot wounds. A 32-year-old man was shot twice in the groin, while a 40-year-old man was shot in the abdomen — and both were taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in fair condition. Police also found two other men with gunshot wounds — a 30-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his elbow and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition, while a 33-year-old man suffered a gunshot graze wound to his face and refused medical treatment. These men were also taken into custody.

Shootings from Monday

  • At 12:18 a.m., the 17-year-old boy was outside in the 5000 block of North Winthrop Avenue, near Argyle Street, when eight men he didn't know walked up to him and opened fire in his direction, police said. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was rushed to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
  • At 2:58 a.m., officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 10600 block of South Avenue M in the East Side community. A witness reported hearing a loud noise and seeing the victim on the ground. The victim, a boy estimated to be 17 or 18 years old, was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the head. He was listed in critical condition, and was later pronounced dead.
