Man Charged With Hitting Chicago Police Officer With Car

(CBS) -- A Chicago police officer was hospitalized after being hit by a car in the Woodlawn neighborhood last night, reports WBBM's Nancy Harty.

The officer was pulling over a car near 65th and Langley around 10 p.m. when he got out of his police vehicle and was hit by the suspect's four door sedan, according to police.

News Affairs says the suspect tried to run away but officers caught him after a short chase. Anthony Turner, 24, has been charged with one count aggravated battery of a police officer and one count of solicitation. The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, treated and released.
