Boy, 17, Shot In Evanston Park

(STMW) -- A 17-year-old boy was shot in a park Friday afternoon in north suburban Evanston.

Police responded to multiple calls of shots fired in the 1600 block of Emerson Street about 6:25 p.m., Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said in a statement.

The boy was in Gilbert Park with several friends when a male fired multiple shots from behind some nearby bushes, Parrott said.

The teen was shot in the neck and taken to NorthShore University HealthSystem Evanston Hospital, where he was listed in "stable" condition, according to Parrott.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting, Parrott said.
